Cedric McMillan is remembered by the Bodybuilding Community

At 44, the former Arnold Classic winner passed away.

Fans and bodybuilders alike were shocked to hear that Cedric McMillan, 44, had died on April 12th. Although no cause of death has been disclosed, McMillan’s health problems, which were well-known for many months, have prevented him from participating in several contests including the Arnold Classic 2021 and 2022. McMillan was also proud to be a United States Army veteran and served his country in South Carolina for many years.

Although McMillan’s death is not known in detail, many bodybuilding and fitness enthusiasts have offered touching tributes to McMillan in memory of one of the most beloved bodybuilders of the sport over the past decade.

“Sorry to hear of the loss of a veteran of the United States Army, Staff Sergeant Cedric Millian. He was an incredible athlete, soldier, and loving father.

Cedric, a private man, would do anything for his soldiers. Staff Sergeant McMillian could be trusted to give the leadership and support that many young people require, from giving them haircuts to teaching them carpentry, to helping them through difficult times.

Ironically, Cedric and Patty were in touch with me to schedule an interview to discuss their thoughts about the importance of physical fitness for the performance of military duties.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Cedric and Patty’s families and friends.

Cedric, thank you for your service. Your service brought honor, dignity, and pride to the uniform. Rest in peace, soldier.”

“Our entire Arnold Sports Festival family is devastated to hear of the loss of 2017 Arnold Classic Champion Cedric McMillan. Cedric McMillan will be greatly missed. He was known for his big personality, infectious smile, gentle heart and sense of humor. Cedric was a champion in bodybuilding and fitness. However, his competitive achievements, including multiple wins in Arnold Classic, were not enough to make him a star. His 20+ years of selfless service in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant First class in July 2021, was what Cedric was most proud of.

Cedric McMillan was above all a husband, father, and we send our deepest condolences during this difficult time.” – Arnold Sports Festival

“I just wanted to share a few words about Cedric. He was so gifted, so vital for us all, and he didn’t even know it. He was so self-critical that he didn’t realize he was the leader of any group with which he walked. He believed that to be a leader, you needed to win the big show. But he wasn’t trying. His military years were clear that he was a leader, he always did things his way, commanded respect and brought everyone together. He brought us together as if we had won the Arnold, even after winning it. Fouad Abiad: “Not a selfish bone was in his body.”

“Being uneasy at the news of your abrupt departure from one dimension to another. @cedricmcmillan was a father and friend. He was also a competitor, a friend, and a man in uniform. He knew how to make people laugh, and made everyone feel like family. This is how I will always remember you, my brother. Rest in Peace Champ.” Kai Greene

“I cannot believe it. It’s an understatement to say I’m shocked. I’m completely blown away. We spoke for over a month. You would never have believed me if you said it was the last time we would speak. Some people make you smile every time you see or hear their faces. Cedric was one of those people. Cedric was a huge personality. He was gentle, kind, and funny in equal measures. Cedric was a champion in bodybuilding and will be remembered as a legend. You can see how impressive it is for someone to attain that physique in that photo. As someone who knew him, I can assure you that his physique was not the most impressive. It’s amazing that I am writing this. RIP” – Evan Centopnai

Cedric McMillan, thank you for your dedication to our country, and my condolences to you and your family. It was a pleasure watching you in the Winners Circle, where you belonged in Germany and Romania many years ago.

We extend our condolences also to McMillan’s family and friends. As more details become available, we will keep you updated.
