Transfiguration in Robert Pattinson

The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson is now out and has received rave reviews. The rebirth of Pattinson seems like it will cement his status as Hollywood’s A-List actor.

It’s extremely difficult to let go of the shadows of Edward Cullen from Twilight and Cedric Diggory of Harry Potter. Robert Pattinson managed it. This week saw the release of Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Pattinson is now someone that people want to root for. Although Pattinson doesn’t seem like the typical charismatic, rich playboy Batman actor, it is something that can be appreciated about his portrayal of Bruce Wayne.

While he’s been a bit distant from his roles in the past, Pattinson’s role is The Caped Crusader. He was cast in roles such as Good Time, Tenet, and The Lighthouse after completing the Twilight saga. He has earned respect for his acting skills in all of these movies, which have helped him to take on mature material.

You can see in Good Time that he’s not always the shadowy, brooding figure that is intimidating or distant. He has tried out his limits. He is not a typecast actor in any of his roles.

Batman also stars Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano as Catwoman and The Riddler. Colin Farrell is The Penguin. This Gotham version is very different from the epic Christopher Nolan trilogy. It is darker, gritty, and more tonally balanced.

After Justice League‘s disaster, viewers can be hopeful that the studios will spend more time fleshing out their films. Even though Ben Affleck tried his best, it might have been better if studios had Pattinson as their lead actor. They will each have their own moments of glory, rather than having to split time between high-profile characters such as Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman and The Flash. They will have more solo films under their belts so there will be an opportunity to gather for their second ensemble movie. We hope Pattinson will join us.

Although not much has been revealed about his plans to appear in the expanded DCEU, it is almost certain that there will be a sequel. We will have to wait and watch out for The Bat.
