Retro Fitness is one of the fastest-growing health club franchises. Today, Project Lift was launched. This new company initiative will open 500 clubs in 50 Black and Brown communities throughout the country over five years. 70 new Retro Fitness locations have been opened in partnership with James Collins, the Managing Partner at Eastwood Capital Partners. A U.S. study found that 57 percent of Americans are obese according to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, non-Black Hispanic and African Americans have a higher rate of obesity than other ethnicities, regardless of their socioeconomic status. This leads to side effects like high blood pressure and diabetes that have only been magnified by the pandemic. Retro Fitness developed this unique program to bring affordable exercise, healthy, and fitness solutions to Black communities.
Andrew Alfano (CEO at Retro Fitness) stated that Retro Fitness is excited to work with James Collins on Project LIFT. “This is the biggest development deal in Retro Fitness’ history, but more importantly it is about making a difference in Black and Brown communities.
Retro Fitness wants to encourage others to join them on this journey. Project LIFT investors can enjoy a waived franchise fee, and 50% off their first year’s royalties. Retro Fitness will also donate a portion of its royalties to a community organization for the lifetime of the business. James Collins, Eastwood Capital Partners’ Managing Partner, stated that Retro Fitness’ intention with Project LIFT appealed to him as it offers a chance to make a real difference by providing a sense of community, extensive job opportunities, and access to a high-quality, affordable health club at a reasonable price point. This partnership is a major accomplishment for me personally and professionally. We raise awareness about the importance of fitness and give back to these Black communities financially.
